Coaches Comments-It was a great day to FINALLY be able to get OUTSIDE and play some MATCHPLAY TENNIS again even though it was cold and the wind played tricks on the ball at times! Sometimes to LOSE a CLOSE match is BETTER than blowing someone out and not really being CHALLENGED.We did not win the match outright today but it was VERY GOOD to see 6,YES,I'll say it again, 6 total tiebreakers to decide matches.WOW!! 2/6 we won,BUT what impressed me the most was the EFFORT that was given! I saw kids diving for balls and not being intimidated by a "big serve of their opponent:I saw kids hustling back on lob shots and getting them back over;I saw a few rediculous angle returns that made me raise my eyebrows and made me say-Wow!Where did that come from? All in all we played very competitively and I was very pleased. We will need to IMPROVE on the "little fundamental things that are hurting us-double faults, missing easy winners, and communicating BETTER as doubles teams. We will get better.I KNOW IT! Sometimes a BITTER STINGING LOSS when you know you "had it",but let it slip away will get you more hungry and ready and more focused the next time you face off against an opponent.Again,GREAT JOB TODAY!! A lot of very close competitive matches and both Holland Christian and West Ottawa fans commented to me that they got a great treat to watch us all play tennis today!
