Comments from Coach Schwallier: Over the past couple weeks I've been able to get out to see both middle school teams.  Here are some things I looked for:

Numbers - Are there are lot of kids out playing?  Between the two middle schools, we have nearly 40, so we are doing good with numbers.
Athletes - Is our sport getting our fair share of natural athletes?  This is an area where I noticed we are very strong.  Lot's of agility, speed, and coordination in the players.
Talent - Are there players who are already showing well-developed fundamentals?  Yes.  I can already identify several players who may track towards varsity if they keep getting better.
                                       AND MOST IMPORTANTLY......
Desire to be Good - How good a player gets ultimately comes down to two questions:
     1.  How good do you actually want to get, and
     2.  How hard are you willing to work to make it happen.
I want to make this very clear: I would take a complete beginner who wants to be GREAT over a decent player who wants to be GOOD every single day of the week.

What has me so excited is that many of you have the athleticism, the talent, and the desire to be GREAT.  It's hard to stop a kid from getting better when they have all three going for them at once!  Keep working hard every day, and contact me any time you have questions.  I will work very hard to help you improve, provided you work just as hard.
