Last weekend there was a USTA tournament at Grand Haven high school. We had some great results, and I want to throw a shout out to a few people.
KACEY WESTENBROEK - Kacey made varsity as a freshman this spring, playing 4th doubles for us. In her second match, she had to play the 1 singles player from Forest Hills Northern...Kacey beat her. What an impressive win!!! I saw Kacey at MVP a few times this summer, and it looked like she was working really hard. Great to see success following the hard work. The girl from Northern is a very steady player, so it confirms that Kacey (who already had a lot of power in her game) must be quickly learning how to play consistent tennis as well in pressure matches. GREAT JOB KACEY!
CHLOE KARP - Chloe won the Girls 16 division. Chloe winning tournaments is not new, but we should point out that she recently moved up from the 14's to the 16's. To see her continuing to have success at a higher age group is great news. CONGRATULATIONS CHLOE!
KAYLA LEBSTER - Kayla won the back draw of the Girls 16 division. I'd echo the same comments that I just made with Chloe...Nothing new for Kayla, but good to see her doing it in the 16's division. CONGRATULATIONS KAYLA!
