Varsity Tennis will have 5th Doubles Starting this Fall!!!

Hey West Ottawa,

We have good news!  Starting with the boys this Fall and the girls next spring, the OK-Red will have 4 singles and 5 doubles flights that will count for scoring.  The Red coaches (WO included) have encouraged the AD's to agree to this, and yesterday it was decided on! 

This means that:

• for all conference duels (Rockford, Hudsonville, East Kentwood, Grand Haven, Grandville, and Caledonia), there will be a 5th doubles flight that will count just as much as the 1 singles flight.  
• we will not have ties in conference anymore.  The score will always be 5-4, 6-3, 7-2, 8-1, or 9-0 in one direction or the other.  
• we will also play and score a 5th doubles for the conference tournament.  
• next fall, the varsity boys and girls will carry 14 players, plus alternates if coaches choose to keep additional players.  
• those are the only events though where 5th doubles will compete towards the score of the event.  5th doubles will not, for example compete at Regionals or the state finals.  

Please continue working hard during the offseason.  The better our 13th and 14th best players are, the more this rule will benefit us.
